From Jackie O to Snooki, the appeal of leopard print is practically universal. What may be a little too bold for the masses? Dye jobs inspired by the feline spots, which are not for the faint of heart. Not that that's stopping us from obsessing over them...

Erik Pascarelli, a hairstylist at London-based Bleach London, is the one who put the trend on our radar when he gave a client with a buzz cut the spotted treatment. When we spoke to Pascarelli, he gave us the lowdown on his painterly approach. First, he bleaches the hair to create a clean base, then tones it with a light bronde shade. (He uses tonersversus vegetable dyes because they don't fade as fast.) Then, for the ocelot pattern, he uses black and brown dyes to meticulously create the spots. "Apart from that, a color save shampoo will help make the color last a little longer" he tells us.

If you want to sport the wild trend, but don't want to buzz your hair in order to do so, Pascarelli suggests using a leopard print stencil and colored hairspray to create the look for a special event. Otherwise, the stylist says that the dye job fares better on shorter hair as longer strands can move and ruin the pattern.

Whether you're considering buzzing your locks to rock the trend, or sporting it stencil-style on your longer 'do, there's plenty of inspiration when you scroll through the #LeopardPrintHair hashtag on Instagram. See some of our favorite takes below:
